Light from the Roof is Brighter

It has been proved that the light coming from the top (roof) is stronger than the one coming from the side (walls). As clearly shown in Photo 1, at a given moment the top (zenith) provides 100% light while only 30% of it comes from the side.

It has been confirmed that for the illumination of a workplace of the same distance from the roof and from the wall a 5.5-times bigger aperture is required for the wall if it is compared to the one in the roof (Photo 2).  It can be concluded that light coming from the roof is much more effective, particularly with big-sized buildings where roof light cannot be replaced. It has been proved that through light surfaces (windows) most heat is lost, whereas if roof light has been used, significant energy saving can be achieved.

Higher Productivity on Account of Light

Natural light cannot be replaced: It reflects the seasons, different times of the day, weather and the impacts of the environment. Thus it has influence on one's feeling, the organism, the need for sleep and the mood. Working spaces are frequently only artificially illuminated.
